August Comment Challenge

After seeing Harriet’s Comment Challenge month over month, I finally signed up for the August Challenge.

It’s pretty straight forward: a challenge to make 1000 comments during the month of August. If I make it, I don’t get any money. Harriet promises a cool button though But apart from the button, there’s more in there for me. I get to pay more attention on other people’s blog (enough to make a meaningful comment) and hopefully that encourages them to checkout my blog/s and participate too.

So far, I have made 15 comments today. That leaves me with 985 more comments to go until the month ends.

Wait, what have I gotten myself into?

Hey, why don’t you join up? Even if we don’t make it to 1000, there’s the journey to remember right? C’mon!

Thanks for stepping by my blog! Oh my, 1000 comments in a little over 3 weeks, we must be crazy… *lol* But at least we can enjoy the ride while it lasts, right?

oh wow! hope you reach 1000 in a month’s time. i wish to join but i don’t think i have the time really, i can’t give up my FB games as yet =)

about my volume rebond, i opted for loreal extenso. they charged me 3500. i was able to ask for a discount since there were two of us. I didn’t get any treatment nor haircut. If you want treatment and haircut and volume rebond, they will charge P6000 for loreal extenso

Good luck to us sis. It’s a great task but I think it’s worth it. Just two days in the challenge and my blogging experience is becoming more enjoyable.

I agree, there’s something about really reading and finding the appropriate words for a comment on a stranger’s blog

Just click on the ticker and you’ll be at the ticker factory. The cool thing about it is you get to set a password, so everytime you need to update, you just click your ticker and update from that page. No need to copy and repaste the code!

I have a ticker on my sidebar, clicking on it takes you to the page where it can be edited using a password. Everytime I make a comment, I just add.

How and why do I get an email of what you’ve posted in your comments? I’ve never had that happen on other blogs before. Doesn’t sending me an email vs a return visit to my blog defeat the point of the meme?

This is my first meme, linky thing so trying to get an understanding of it.

I need more coffee, just spotted below this area notify me of follow up comments via email…lol, never ever noticed that before. I must have clicked that somehow by mistake? Or is some sort of a default setting on your blog?

Also noticed my most recent blog post isn’t the one that shows up, the one listed was 2 days ago. Why is that? Today must be my day for asking questions. lol

Hi Sandy!

In WordPress, I use a plugin for Threaded comments. That’s what’s responsible for ordering the display of comments,you know when people reply to a comment like I’m doing right now. In that plugin, I have the option checked to send an email to the commenter, so they would know that someone directly replied to his/her comment only. The notification does not extend to all comments made on the post.

As for the link on your original comment, the CommentLuv plugin is responsible for obtaining and posting that link. That was the last post on your blog the day it was posted. When you reply again to a post, at the bottom of the page you’ll see the small commentluv logo with a checkbox beside it. Tick that so your most recent blog post will be captured again.

I find that with the email notification, people are more inclined to come back and interact with me when I respond to a comment. After all, not everyone goes back to each blog they’ve commented on to find out if anyone’s bothered to respond.

As for returning comments via the meme, I prefer to respond to comments within my blog so as not to lose the context. But I do go and visit the blogs of those who comment, and when I am able to say anything with sense related to their post, I leave a new comment.

WOW…I’m learning. Thanks for such a nice explanation. I find sometimes I have to wade through things to get it techy wise. So, since I’m blogger and not wp, I don’t think I have that sorta of optiob for my blog. I’ll have to do some exploring.

I think I’m sorta doing manually what you’re talking about, in that I respond in comments on my blog to someone; but then go to their blog and do the same.

It’s a catch 22, sorta. People like people to come back to their blog, but those visiting want them to come to their’s in return. lol

comment luv thing, I clicked the little arrow but it says I have to join or register to reduce cache, and that cache only refreshes every 7.8 hours; which confuses me further since the post listed was well over 7.8 hours ago? My post you commented on the one with Flat Stanley was posted on Friday at 8 am, while the one listed was previous to that?

Must go check out comment luv and see what that’s about, perhaps that a wp thing too?

Hmmm as far as I remember CommentLuv is not supposed to require membership. Odd.. It is also compatible for blogger as I’ve seen some Blogger blogs who have it enabled. I’m afraid I don’t know much about why it’s behaving badly at the moment.
