I work in customer service and know how it feels when the good you do is under appreciated, and the bad experiences are magnified three-fold. So I am taking the time out to say thank you to Nick Roach of Elegant Themes for very good customer service.

Last year, I was theme hunting and Elegant Themes seemed to be the perfect solution to my needs. It came highly recommended too.

But a year later and all I have is one site using one of their themes. They’ve got a lovely selection, but I just can’t get to customize them to my own tastes. It’s not their fault, I didn’t spend enough time learning to adapt the themes to what I wanted.

So last year I registered and every once and awhile I would go into my account and download themes and try them out. But I realized it would be a waste of money to renew this year if I wasn’t going to maximize the membership. I thought I had already cancelled the auto payment in Paypal, but I went in today and found that I had been charged for another year of Elegant Themes. I cancelled the auto renewal and then quickly sent an email via the Contact form at ET. I asked nicely for a refund, but I wasn’t betting on it.

I checked my mailbox a few hours later and there it was, I had been refunded. No questions asked, no deductions.

So thank you Nick Roach and Elegant Themes! That was classy. <img style="border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-top-style: none; border-left-style: none" class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile" alt="Smile" src="http://verabear.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/wlEmoticon-smile2.png" / rel="lightbox[roadtrip]">

My verabear badge has been the same since I joined Entrecard about two years ago. It’s patterned after the theme I designed when I was using Blogspot (http://verabear.blogspot.com). When I moved to WordPress and called my blog Where the Moon Shines, I didn’t make a new badge. I figured that I’d just make one when I change themes again, which still hasn’t happened. Besides, making a badge isn’t as easy as it seems.

But I realized I should put up badges here for my other blogs. After all, I should advertise my own blogs alongside space provided for EC and Adgitize bloggers. I’ve had a badge for the Newbie Photographer for a while because I use it for the Adgi ads.

<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3570" title="newbiephotog" src="http://verabear.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/newbiephotog.gif" alt="" width="125" height="125" / rel="lightbox[roadtrip]">

Today, I finally have a badge for my book reaction blog, Between the Covers:

<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3571" title="betweenthecovers" src="http://verabear.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/betweenthecovers.png" alt="" width="125" height="125" / rel="lightbox[roadtrip]">

Does this mean I’ll be getting ads for BTC too? Well I haven’t decided yet, but at least it already has its own badge. I have so many new posts over there too, so why don’t you go hop on over? Let’s test the new commenting system I’ve installed there while you’re at it. Thanks in advance!

I have had no readers or commenters say anything to me about this, but I get this issue every time I look at individual posts: the sidebar moves away from the left side of the page, and goes at the bottom of the post, below the comments.

Let me illustrate:

So, when you land on my main domain, http://verabear.net, you see my whole site with the posts, the header, the sidebars and the footer. Like so:

all elements still shown

Once you click on the post title or the comments link, it will show this:

Where are my sidebars?

You’ll have to scroll further down to find this:

There you are!

The Adgitize ad group is supposed to be at the very bottom of my page, so the sidebar starts where it says Subscribe. I have no idea why my blog is behaving this way. I am also not sure when it started or if it’s only doing this for IE8 and the updated Chrome browser.

Can someone please help me?

I’m due for a site redesign anyway but I wanted to use this current theme as my base theme and just change backgrounds and stuff. That won’t do if it’s broken this way.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Or if you’d rather build me a custom theme for free then that would be super! Haha
