Health – Losing Weight

Magic number: 218

218 was actually yesterday’s magic number. A few days before that, it was 222. 🙂

It’s now 18 minutes past 7 in the evening. I should be sound asleep because there’s work tonight. But, as it would be my first day back from my off, my body clock’s still off. It’s like this every week. And I’m really sick of it. 🙁

What I’m not sick og though, is my diet 🙂 Today’s lunch was particularly filling and tasty:

SBD lunch day 5

Fried bangus, tinola soup and ube pudding

I couldn’t help but swoon at the smell of the boyfriend’s lunch though: Lucban longganiza. I had teeny tiny bit just to satisfy my taste buds. A little cheat goes a loooooong way. 🙂 Brekky was yesterday’s lunchmeat (was supposed to be a snack) with today’s tuna and hardboiled egg. Yum. Oh, I had buco pandan pudding too. Is this really dieting? There’s a funny dilemma tonight too. I don’t know whether to eat the day 5 dinner now, or have it for day 6 breakfast at midnight later? But that would mean I’d have an extra meal and two extra snacks for tomorrow. What a conundrum! Haha 🙂  Ang laki naman ng problema ko, lol!

Last night’s dinner was so yummy too, promise! As soon as I opened the container marked Korean Beef Stew, I could smell it and it just intensified when I heat it in the microwave. The side dish was a cucumber salad that had a bit of sweetness in it. I’ve always liked having cucumber in vinegar, but this one was something else.

On Sunday, I was out with my girlfriends. I had to eat dinner at home though before meeting up with them. Good thing too because being full was the only way I could have resisted all those yummy food, including the cakes at the coffee shop we stayed in. I have pictures from there (of my friends, not of the cake!) but I’ve again no time to post those. Gotta hop on the Orbitrac again, I did 8 minutes yesterday! 🙂

Today was a Full Day

How many hours can you actually fit into a work day? I have had such a looooong day. I don’t mean that to be negative though. 🙂

I’m just dropping in to report that Day 2 food was so good. The only downside is that one of the snacks is just some cashew nuts. Not filling, so I was hungry for lunch earlier than what would have been optimal. Snack 2 was Kani salad. I feel like this will really work, especially once I start with the exercise/walking. I’ve set the start date for additional physical activity on Monday morning. This afternoon though, I did get to walk a bit. I still receive reviews of various weight loss programs, including those like this nuphedragen review, someone even mentioned that I try Maggie (or maybe it’s Magi), an appetite suppressant.  I’m wary about taking any type of diet pills though, unless a doctor actually prescribes them to me.

So I had lunch at work which is not news, but since the boyfriend and I were going somewhere after my shift, he brought my dinner to me too. It was both yummy and colorful:

Fish Putanesca and Vegetable Royale

While I finished my shift and this filling dinner, the boyfriend was waiting for me at MIP – it’s a food/drinking spot right across our office building. One of our teams was there drinking and since he knew some of them from when he still worked there, he hung out with them and drank a few bottles too many. Lol. He took a photo of some of those left too, but I’m hesitant to post it! Haha. 🙂

Today we also bid goodbye to Maxine and handed her over to her new owner. I’ve known him awhile and know that she will be in good hands. I also know that she will continue taking photos of kids, this time two little girls and their adventures!

With Maxine’s departure, can a new camera not be far behind?

His name’s ViKtor and he’s a Nikon D5000. We didn’t get time to get acquainted with him though. Alfred had to go home, and as for me, I had to blog. I’m sure ViK will get much exposure soon though. The loveteam of ViK and Deena. 😉

O sya, matutulog na ‘ko!

Short Note

Day one went well. No hunger pangs. I attribute that to the snacks, kahit na konti lang. 🙂

Day two meals were delivered while I was taking a nap. Had a nagging headache when I left work (still have it now) so I was rendered useless this afternoon. The meals are looking better, that’s not to say the day one meals were not good ha. I especially enjoyed a dinner of taco beef with the salad and salsa sauce. I can really get used to SBD and maybe even do phase one every other two weeks. Perhaps I should invest in electric grills next, so we can have more healthier meals for the family! Ahh.. we already have the NuWave pala, that should work!

I did get to play three songs in Guitar Hero Metallica despite of the headaches 🙂 Thank you boyfriend for having additional GH titles loaded onto the PS2. Mwah!

Tonight, Maxine will be meeting her new owner. Yes, we’re selling her and the boyfriend will be upgrading to the future ViK . We’ll introduce him when we get him. Haha. 🙂

So there’s my quick update. I was so thrilled to see three bloggy friends show up in my inbox – Tracy, Wenk, and Miss N.! Thank you ladies for all your support, keep sending your good vibes over 🙂

Phase One-Day One 7/9

Tomorrow I will start on a brand new journey. I have talked about weight issues and my plans to lose weight countless times on this blog. I’ve already lost track of how many times I’ve started out on a diet and exercise plan only to see it fizzle out weeks, or days later (maybe even mere hours!).  I hope this is the last time I’ll ever have to say that I’m on a diet.

While I was out checking out ballpens and notebooks at the mall today, I received a call from The Sexy Chef confirming delivery of my Day 1 SouthBeach Diet Phase One meals tomorrow afternoon. I asked though if there was a possibility to squeeze me in today, not really expecting a yes. The lady called me back a few minutes later and said yes, they’d be able to schedule me for today after all. Just a little over an hour ago, I finally received a full day’s meals which I will actually consume tomorrow. That’s how the system goes: they deliver food scheduled to be enjoyed the day after.

Receiving the first delivery also means that I have given myself an (expensive) advanced happy birthday gift. I paid for two-weeks worth of SBD Phase One meals today. My bank account suffered a huge loss, but I hope that it means big gains for my health and well-being. 🙂

The photo doesn’t really give you an idea of how the food tastes. I’m sure it’s yummy. I don’t know yet, I’ll only start eating them tonight (breakfast at midnight). But it really is a complete set already: breakfast, lunch, dinner, two snacks and even gelato for dessert. I will probably swap lunch for breakfast though, I’m not comfortable bringing soup to work as baon. I hope that doesn’t mess things up for the diet. I’m sure it won’t. 🙂

They also handed me info on SBD and a list of foods to avoid, and a list of food to enjoy while on Phase One of the diet. It’s advised to eat only the food they supply, but they also gave a few suggestions on what to munch on or  take in case there are hunger pangs in between meals. It will probably be coffee with low-fat milk and sugar substitute for me.

Aside from buying ballpens and a notebook (to accompany me in my new journey) at the mall this afternoon, I was actually there to buy comfortable clothes to exercise in. I bought a few shirts and a couple of stretch pants.

You see, my dad has kindly volunteered to walk with me. He’s going to change his walking schedule just to make sure that I do have some exercise each day. He’s probably more determined than I am to make this work. I am thankful for that of course. 🙂 I haven’t decided yet what the best time for walking is, given my schedule. I’ll probably start with the Orbitrac the first few days and then go walking with that starting next week. We’ll see.

Perhaps now that I’ve put my money where my mouth is, now that I’m spending my own hard earned money, I will actually do what it takes to see the journey through. I’ve made an investment on my health. 🙂

I did sneak in some non-health related shopping today though. I bought this cute pair of Grendha Jelly Slips:

Believe me, the photo does not do it justice. This pair was just so cute. It comes in violet and red too, but I’m not too bold as to get those. I need this pair! All my kikay shoes have given up on me. I think I’m too much weight for them to carry for so long. Haha. 🙂

For those who read yesterday’s post and are thinking about helping out those babies, please go ahead and check out the links from the post. You may order your Breathe Hope bracelets directly from Mommy Tet, or the rosaries and bags from Hannah’s Multiply site. Speaking of bags, I was disappointed at not being allowed to use my own reusable shopping tote bag earlier. The bagger said that they are required to use the SM plastic bags. Not so bad I guess, since they are biodegradable. Still…

Oh, I stumbled on a site that sells portable oxygen concentrator, it got me wondering if those types will work for Baby Jon, or if they may be cheaper. They just look so portable and maybe with one like those on the site, they’d be able to take Jon for pasyal.

SBD Thoughts and June Entrecard Round-up

Wow! June’s come and gone. Today’s the first of July, my birthday month! I shared plans for a giveaway contest, but I haven’t finalized it yet. Di bale, there are 31 days in July, enough time to plan, launch, and execute (I hope!).

That’s a screen capture of May’s EC top droppers on this blog. When I checked my stats page today, I see that the top ten has changed a bit. Never the less, I welcome them/you all to my space under the moon, and THANK YOU for your visits, your clicks, and most especially, your comments. 🙂

I’ve been thinking about doing the South Beach Diet again. This time around though, I’d be getting the services of The Sexy Chef. They’ll prepare all your meals for the day and deliver them to your doorstop. Everyday for two weeks. The only catch is that it costs 875 pesos a day (~USD19). Not. Cheap. I think that having someone else prepare it for me for the first two weeks may be a big help. Plus, having the food already there will definitely keep me from eating anything else. The cost will also be an everyday reminder that I have to take this seriously.

But 12k is not easy money. So I really have to think about this well. All I have to do is give them my name and the delivery address, then pay in full on the first delivery. Hmm.

I did SBD many many years ago. I had the Metro magazine that featured the diet when it was popular back then, had my aunt help me draw up a meal plan for two weeks, then I tried my best to stick with it. I prepared my own food for the most part! It was a success, I really did lose weight. But then I started to work at NCO where there were free meals, and my schedules changed. I forgot all about it and my weight doubled since.

The truth is, the problem is that I don’t have the discipline to stick to an exercise plan. And having someone else prepare my SBD meals for me will not cure that. I am hoping that the boyfriend will be the force behind it. He’s not exactly the best example, but with the money we’ll spend on the food, he’s bound to breathe down my neck everyday to be sure I exercise too for maximum effect. Lol 🙂

Or I could always just prepare the food myself, or have Alfred make them para dalawa kami. But I don’t have the info anymore. I even bought the book second-hand last year only to be claimed by Ondoy. I’ll check out the magazine stand for back issues of Metro, there’s an ABS-CBN Publishing kiosk in the office, maybe they have it. Kaya lang, would they still carry a 2004/2005 issue? Good luck na lang. I’ll try that, draw up a plan and see if that’s more doable. Right now though, I can already say that going the Sexy Chef way sounds easier. 🙂
