World Class Advertising on a Blogger’s Budget

So goes the tagline of the popular advertising network for bloggers, Adgitize.

I’ve been part of this network for quite a while now, over a year really. My member profile doesn’t say when I signed up, but it must have been no later than March last year, 2009. I’ve received payouts consistently since I started advertising too and that’s always an email I look forward to getting each month 🙂

How does Adgitize work?

Bloggers can sign up as a Publisher to display ads on their websites. To be a ‘Publisher’ means to have at least one Adgitize group posted on your blog, and to have it viewed at least once a day. You accumulate points in this network, and publishing a post per day guarantees a regular accumulation of points. Visiting other blogs in the network by clicking on ads on your site plus the sites you visit also gets you points.

The more points you earn, the more equivalent moolah you get. 🙂

But things get more interesting when you sign up as an Advertiser too. You just need a 125×125 badge (I can make you one if you sign up through this link), pay the advertising fee, and  your badge/ad will be displayed across the network of blogs. Because the Adgitize culture encourages visiting bloggers by clicking through the ads, this guarantees you more traffic, and more points. 🙂

I personally go for the monthly ads that cost $14. That’s a considerable amount, but I have proven time and again that as long as I blog regularly, it is money that I get back. Sometimes, I even place two ads in a month to promote traffic for my other blogs as well. Each month, I’d typically get anywhere between 11 to 14 dollars from Adgitize payout. I use that same money to place the ad for the following month. If I only get 11 dollars that month, that just means I paid 3 dollars for advertising that would have cost more from other ad providers.

Another awesome thing about Adgitize is how the founder/owner of the network interacts with the publishers and advertisers. Ken Brown personally emails the members and responds to our queries. I understand that he’s had to hire some staff as the network has grown, but he’s still pretty hands on.

In fact, I just exchanged emails with him tonight. I received this happy news from him, you see:

Hi Vera,

Congratulations. You have sponsored the most new member advertisers for the week of October 3 through October 9th. You are the winner and you win the $15 winning prize for the week. Plus, since we didn’t have any winners from last week you win an additional $15 from last week. You will receive an email shortly from PayPal with your winning amount of $30.00 USD.

Thank you for being an Adgitize Member affiliate and sponsoring new advertisers into the Adgitize Ad Network.

For more information about the promotion check out this article on the Adgitize Blog, http://www.adgitize.com/blog/default.aspx/28/Adgitize-Affiliate-Promotion-for-October-2010.

Sincerely,

Ken Brown
Adgitize

How’s that for good news, huh? 🙂

Thank you so much to Zoan for deciding to sign up with Adgitize last week by using my affiliate link! Without you, this winning would not have been possible. So I will gladly share the blessing with you (but not so much okay? lol) 🙂

If you’re a blogger and you haven’t advertised with Adgitize yet, well what are you waiting for?

Adgitize your web site.

Free Rice!

I noticed an image that wasn’t rendering properly on my sidebar so I clicked on it to follow the link. It was the banner for FreeRice. The banner probably stopped working when they relaunched the site recently and I never noticed. Goes to show that I don’t regularly visit the advocacy sites that I sport on my sidebar 🙁

So Free Rice is a game site launched by the UN World Food Programme where you can enhance your vocabulary and every correct answer is matched with a donation of a hundred grains of rice. So tonight, I’ve donated 1000 grains for answering 100 questions in a row. Funny how the words I learned today (as in I wasn’t sure what they meant at first) all start with ‘cr.’

crone = hag
cretin = imbecile
crotchety = irritable

Explore around the site and you can see that there’s an option to switch subjects too, I have yet to try that.

I tried looking for the new location of the banners but couldn’t find them, not even from the main WFP website. So I emailed the people behind the website about it. I hope the banners come back soon because it’s one tool we can use to spread the word.

Speaking of spreading the word…

The Breast Cancer Site

October, apart from being the Children’s Month supposedly, is also known as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So pink is hip this month. Click this badge daily to help fund free mammograms. All it costs for you is one click per day 🙂

After clicking at the Breast Cancer site, check out the other links at the top of that page and show your support for other causes too such as Hunger, Child Health, Literacy, and also Rain Forest and Animal Rescue.

I’ve shopped at those stores in the past too and wish I still had the baller IDs I purchased from them years ago.

I’ve spent a few minutes this evening planning my newest blog, a health-themed one. I’ve got a few post topics already but I haven’t gone round to actually writing them and tweaking the template. I definitely have to launch in October though. For that new blog, I’m thinking of just scheduling posts so it would be low maintenance but still get updated regularly. That should have been my strategy for the Newbie Photographer from the beginning too.

So although you’ll be expecting a lot of weight loss related posts on the new blog (maybe even info on the different methods like hCG shots Austin), I’ll also be talking about other things that promote good health and this includes environmental issues and concerns. I’m really excited for this new project and hope it takes off soon. 🙂

Join Nicquee’s Giveaway!

Nicquee of Pop Ups of My Mind is giving this away:

When I first heard about it, my reaction was to commend her for a brilliant idea. PC safety and security is everyone’s concern and having a firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware software is essential these days.

The giveaway is in celebration of Nicquee’s birthday and is open internationally. If the winner turns out to be local (Pinoy) s/he will receive the CD with the license. If not, then the download link and the license will be emailed to the lucky winner.

She’s made it very easy to join, the mechanics are in her giveaway post. Although I have McAfee and my PC/laptops have been protected by it for the past five years (I get a free subscription with my MSN Premium account), I’m still joining this giveaway!

Afternoon Nap

That’s why I’ve been offline for the most part of this week. I’d been getting too-long naps in the afternoon. It all started on Tuesday, after a session at the gym. Yes, I’ve been to the gym twice this week. But that’s a story for a whole other blog (yes, I’ve got some material for my new blog that’s taking eons to launch!).

Anyhoo… The world celebrated Teachers’ Day a few days ago and I just wanted to shout out that I have had some amazing teachers in my student life. They have all (mostly) enriched my life, and encouraged me to continue wondering and discovering the world around me. Although I can’t say I have a favorite teacher, some of them just stand out in my mind as I write this. She wasn’t my teacher in any class (not that I can remember), but she was the adviser for our grade school paper. She taught me a lot, and when she left us, and later when I moved up to highschool, I missed her. YTV was not quite the same after she left.

In highschool… wala lang ako maisip ngayon, but I had some awesome teachers too. A lot of them really cared for their students. At the UP, who could ever forget one of the pillars of the Psych Dept? I remembered him on this post when he passed on. There were other professors from other colleges and departments too. Ones who really challenged me to think out of the box, and challenge my own beliefs. Most of them were very encouraging.

Before I left UP, I had wondered about writing each of my former professors a note to say thank you. I never got around to it, but someday, I still might do it. Teaching isn’t a lucrative career, but I can see how it can be the most rewarding.

Kudos to all the Teachers of the world! Keep on inspiring young minds and leading the way for a brighter tomorrow. 🙂

Health blog and PayBox

Remember my plans of launching a new blog, this time centered on health topics? Well, I’ve already selected a domain for it, but it’s taking time to get it ready. Okay, I’m taking time to get ready. I only really started prepping it today.

I won’t reveal the domain yet, but it’s something that will be easy to remember, and may have multiple meanings. Because of my domain selection, I now envision the new blog to be not just about my personal health, but also about the health of the community, and of the Earth in general. So it might actually shape up to be a health blog + a green blog as well (whatever that means!). 🙂

Please don’t expect blog posts on weight loss pills that work just yet although who knows, I might actually get to do a real review of those in the future. I will blog about some health supplements that I am currently taking, and those that I have also tried out in the past. In time, I hope to talk about exercise and walking for fitness. That is, if I ever become passionate about adding more movement to my sedentary lifestyle.

So. Though I really hoped to have posted a reveal for my new baby today, let me just tell you instead of a new money making site that I signed up for. Note that I make no claims to the legitimacy of the site, although I have not found any post or info contesting the same. As far as I can tell, the people behind the site are up front in saying that you can’t really use any of the money you are supposed to be earning NOW just yet, because cash out won’t be available until the service has fully launched in December 2011. They do seem to be brewing a way for you to somehow use that money lying around in your account in a few months. What’s good about the site is that at this stage, it does not require you to provide any personally identifiable information apart from your email address, a username and a password. They don’t ask for your bank account, or your Paypal details. There’s also no software to download. In my opinion, it is harmless to sign up now and get the $50 dollar bonus added to your account balance. You don’t need to spend a lot of time on the site either. There are a few surveys to answer and you may earn from that. I hear that simply logging on to the site helps you accumulate cents.

Simply put, I see no risks for signing up at this time. If after a few days you decide that it’s a waste of time, then you can simply forget about it. But do check it out. What am I talking about? PayBox! That is my referral link, and joining from there earns me $5 per referral. Just click the link and check it out, do not feel obliged to sign up unless you’re really interested. 🙂

Okay, enough about these shameless plugs. Tomorrow, I shall post more food photos! 🙂
