Coupon Crazy!

Signing up for this coupon/discount sites has got me coupon and bargain crazy!

Today, I am drawn to two deals from two different sites (there’s more but I narrowed it down to just these two). Click on the photo to view the deals.

This 36% off for a Flip MinoHD is only up for the next five hours. Since I saw the Flip Mino on TV a few years back, I’ve wanted to get one. I’ve even contemplated ordering off Amazon. Now that it’s here and at a discounted price, I am so tempted to get it. The BDO deferred payment makes it an even sweeter deal.

So I’ve never been to a spa. Ace Water Spa doesn’t quite the same, I know. 🙂 So this 62% off deal for The Getaway Spa is another tempting treat. This deal will run for a couple more days so there’s no rush, I can’t think about it more. If I really want it, I’ll purchase the coupons tomorrow.

The Flip MinoHD deal though will be over in under 5 hours. Pressure! Hahahaha.

I’m not sure if I love these sites anymore. Although there are savings in their deals, I think I end up spending more for stuff I would have normally done without! Know what I mean? 🙂

What I do love from these two sites though, Groupon and CashCashPinoy, is that they offer an easy way for Pinoys to donate to the Japan Quake/Tsunami fund. The default donation is a hundred pesos, and customers may choose to donate more (just add quantity). What’s even better is that both Groupon and CashCashPinoy pledge to top up those donation and match it buck for buck. So if you send two hundred pesos, they add two hundred of their own pesos into the pot too. Awesome! Check them out!

Help Japan via Groupon or Help Japan via CashCashPinoy! Proceeds will be turned over to the Philippine National Red Cross.

Weekend Home :)

Amir is here right now, captivating everyone with his cuteness 🙂 He’s been a good boy, not too fuzzy, even with clogged nose due to colds. If Diane hadn’t confirmed that the little guy gained a few more pounds, I’d have though it impossible that he could be any bigger! There’s more of him to love! 🙂

Dad and I picked up their small family at their home in San Benissa, Fairview at lunch time today. The couple went to the office for the afternoon but they’re on their way back already. They’ll head home for the night and tow Dad’s Corolla with them – it’s Diane’s now, they just bought it from Dad! Anyway, Amir will be back tomorrow morning while his parents run an errand.

I’ve snapped quite a few (okay, a LOT) photos of the baby, but I can’t find the cable just now so no sharing just yet. He’s been smiling a lot, and there’s been a lot of mini-laughs all afternoon. He’s been adorable!

Everyone’s just so happy to have him around – he’s had quite a few visitors today. If you’ve been around him, you’d know why.

So Amir is home. I guess this is his original home then? Haha. He has two homes – this one where grandma, grandpa and auntie live, and their own space at San Benissa.

Okay. I can’t resist it anymore. I have to share at least one photo. Here’s one from last month, as previously uploaded at The Newbie Photographer blog.

While driving to Fairview, we passed by a billboard for one of the newest developments in the area. I imagine it’s something like San Benissa, but they have a pool for the residents! I wonder if they’re in the same price point too? So I tried searching for photos of the development online but I got results for other interesting properties instead. Something that particularly caught my attention (and Esban’s too, because he was here while I was browsing) are these new homes in Utah. I liked the look and feel of those houses so I stared at the photos for awhile. I don’t think I could afford a house that big! To be near schools and shops, and then to be made out of renewable resources too – these look to be amazing homes!

I asked E which of the new home designs he liked best and if you do checkout the site, he picked the one on the left. Good choice. I prefer that design too, but maybe with the fire engine red paint job. 🙂

Back to Blogging Basics

Last night, I started thinking about the days when I had just started blogging. Back then, I had a list of blogs I would go through everyday. I’d visit other bloggers – some I’d interact with (comments), some I would just stalk. I developed some friendships doing that. I earned backlinks too even before I knew what those were. Through that I learned about the possibility of earning through my blog. My Bravejournal earned PR and I received paid link opportunities that fueled me on to blog even more.

I think that’s when things changed.

Now, I rarely visit blogs just for the sake of checking up on someone. I don’t always click on a link or badge looking forward to an exciting new post or another entry in a continuing saga of someone else’s life. More often than not, I click on to the next blog and expect nothing.

And that is plain sad.

Am I sad that my blog has PR and that I get sponsored link opportunities? No! But I have to remind myself every once in awhile NOT to lose sight of what blogging has always meant for me.

That said, let me just share with you two blogs that I visit even if they are outside of the two traffic-building blogging networks I am a part of – Entrecard and Adgitize.

I first found the blog Made by Petchy when I was looking for tutorials on how to make camera strap covers. You should really check it out, not just the tutorials but the rest of her blog as well. There’s a lot of eye candy with her sharing her wonderful photos, and the makeover she’s doing in her house. There is so much design inspiration in that blog, and some baking and cooking too 🙂

My first visit to Zakka Life was to checkout her post on this very cute 2009 calendar craft project. I did it too, and it looked like this:

But Zakka Life has many more craft projects to share and even if you’re not a crafter, you’ll spend a lot of time oodling over all the cuteness that can be found at her space. So check her out!

Blog Backup Day

Do you regularly backup your blog/s? I don’t. I try to back up files from my Webhost every once in a while but I don’t think I do it monthly. It’s more like an activity I do only when I remember to do it.

If something were to happen to my blog and I’d be unable to restore from the servers – I know I’d be devastated. Thanks to Eric of Blog de Manila for reminding us to set a regular Blog Backup Day – every first of the month. Not only does he call bloggers to action, but he also lists the various ways you can back up.

It’s only a few days past the 1st of the month, if you haven’t backed up yet then now would be a good time. Then setup a calendar reminder that would prompt you to do the same thing next month and the months after that. Come on, it doesn’t take too long and you will feel safe in the knowledge that you can restore your blog if necessary. 🙂

I know we just had a vacation but I want another one! This time, a quick weekend in the City of Pines. It’s been years since I’ve stepped on Baguio soil, and even then, I was just passing through from heavenly Sagada. I’d love to go and bask under the sun without actually feeling/being hot. We don’t really have to stay in a fancy hotel with log furniture, hehe, just somewhere comfortable. Although, I’d have to say, I’d always been curious about The Manor hotel. Hmm…

But I don’t think this will happen anytime soon. We’re trying to save money after all.

What are your best memories of Baguio? Do share!

Goodbye Feb!

We bid goodbye to month number 2 in 2011. Wow, we’re into the third month of this not-so-new year.

As has been customary, I’d like to thank my top Entrecard droppers for February:

On the work front, February went by so quickly and unfortunately my team didn’t get results similar to the previous month. I can say that in terms of doing well and making progress, we did a lot better in January. But no worries, I can see my team getting used to doing things the right way, and that’s what matters. We just need to sustain it, and be even more focused in all our efforts.

I am definitely looking forward to a busier March – and busy is good. Specially if it means seeing better results week over week. 🙂

Did you post a February roundup page, do link me up. I am too lazy to make one myself but I’ve always liked reading up monthly reviews from bloggy friends.

Do checkout Between the Covers, I’ve posted quite a couple of things up there this past week. 🙂
