DigiScrapping

Peace and Serenity

Because of my slow Internet connection, I have been staying away from my favorite digital scrapbooking digs to avoid frustration over the extremely slow download times. Today seemed as good a time as any to go visiting again, so I clicked on over to my Digital Scrapbooking Blogroll and went on a ride.

The order of Β the links on my digiscrap blogroll randomly change each time you visit the page. On this visit, I went through about four or five of the links until I stopped, because I was led to an interesting blog that I felt compelled to read through, or I found one I haven’t visited in a loooong time and had so much downloads to catch up on. πŸ™‚

Apart from the great finds from Lindsay Jane’s and KimB’s blogs, there was one blog whose threshold I felt blessed to have gone over today. Megan’sΒ Rackety Scrappety. Her blog was one of those blogs that I used to visit almost on a daily basis. I always looked forward to her templates, and her layouts showcasing her kids. Templates have always been effective in giving me inspiration for my own layouts, though I almost never stick to exactly how they’re designed. On hindsight, though I must have downloaded every template I found on her blog, I don’t think they were really the primary reason I went there to visit – I truly enjoyed viewing her layouts, and the smiles of her kids.

As it turns out, Megan is indefinitely signing off from Rackety Scrappety to spend more of her time and energy with her family, and her newborn Crew. You have got to head on over to Crew’s Journey, I suggest you start reading it from the first post. Her entry about meeting Dex, one half of the twins who flew up to heaven even before he came out from mum’s tummy, was so peaceful and serene. I’ve never read anything quite like it. I mean, I don’t remember reading about loss but not feeling the heaviness of it.Β

Crew’s Journey is both a memorial to Dex, and a celebration of Crew’s baby steps to wellness. I think that most importantly, it is a chronicle of the mother’s road to healing.

Whenever I hear of mothers who lost their babies, I can’t imagine how it was for my mother, losing her baby many years ago after having spent only a few days with him. My dad once said that my mom wrote poems but I’ve never seen them. And we’ve never talked about it. I can only conclude that at the time, she had the support and love to keep her going.

Choosy Tuesday

I’ve mentioned this before – I have become a little more choosy/picky when it comes to downloading freebies. My harddrive is really bursting at the seams! Haha. πŸ™‚

But I just couldn’t resist downloading these goodies prepared by Vicki and her friends, Linda, Mel and Dawn.

So for this Choose-Day, go ahead, and checkout Vicki’s blog for info about how/where to download the goods!

I really should do some scrapping this week.Β

Needle Sized Art (and more)

…I started writing this last night but my server conked out on me before I finished. Thank God for autosave…

I received a link to this video and I just wanted to post it right away.

Β

Needle Sized Art
Very incredible story! Not only is this mans art cool but he got a ton of cash for it!

Β

Isn’t he amazing? I know there is an artist in the Philippines who makes miniature paintings on rice grains. They would work well together, wouldn’t they? πŸ™‚

American Chopper is on TV tonight, it’s a rerun of their Lance Armstrong special. I’ve seen that episode several times and yet I watched it again from start to finish. I heard somewhere that Lance is going out of retirement to ride for the Tour of France again, is that true? When will that be?

Anyway, since I’m not a 100% back yet, I’ll be calling an early night tonight. Alfred, because he was out drinking from 10AM to 6PM, is already sleeping. I think he did go to bed right away because he knew I was really upset that he was out that long. I mean, I can understand going out for drinks with friends, and that it was someone’s birthday, but eight hours? It’s just ridiculous.

Before I turn in though, let me just show you previews of wonderful kits I’ve downloaded today from the Project Sunshine Galleries of the Sunshine Studios. You have to register though before you can even see the previews and the links to the downloads. Register at the Forum first, and then head on to the Gallery and look for Project Sunshine.Β

Aren’t they lovely? Go go go check them out!

Now I’ve got a question – Β what exactly are Fig trees? I’ve heard of figs and even ran a search on them but I just can’t imagine what figs really are. You know, how they taste like and all. Are they eaten as is? Are they made into jam or maramalade? Do fig newtons actually come from figs?Β

Sorry for this question that seemed to have cropped up from nowhere. I was just channel surfing and I caught fig trees being mentioned in one of the shows. Hehe. πŸ™‚

Anyhoo… I saw Drew Barrymore in Never Been Kissed just now. What a cute movie! Proms aren’t as big here in the Philippines as it is in the US but I sure would love to get a second chance at my own prom. Haha!

Scrapbook Saturday #13 – my QP! ;) [plus Windows Live Hotmail news]

Having been at home all day, I had all the time to scrap a brand new layout – but I didn’t. I’ve completely forgotten about Scrapbook Saturday – and I find that ironic really. In previous weeks, mainly the ones where I couldn’t find time to squeeze in a layout or two, SS would be foremost in my mind when Friday night rolls in. Now – it just completely escaped me.

Perhaps it was the fact that I’ve been sneezing all day. Or that my nose is completely red from all the pinching and rubbing and wiping it has endured in the past 15 hours or so. Maybe even the annoying feeling I’ve got just above my throat. Whatever it is that’s caused this slight memory gap – I hate it!

So I am cheating with my 13th SS post. I’d love to direct you to my 200th post for the download link to the QuickPage freebie that I’ve posted to celebrate my blog’s milestone. πŸ˜‰ I hope you find use for it!

I’ve got WL Hotmail news after the jump πŸ˜‰

Thoughts on my 200th post

I made it to Post #200! Yay!

To celebrate this blogging milestone, I’m offering a Quickpage freebie for my digital scrapbooking readers πŸ™‚ For a long time now I have thought about my place in the digital scrapbooking community. I am a silent member, but one of the biggest stalkers of my favorite designers, hehe. For what seems like a long time now, I’ve been spending a lot of time scouring the web with freebies, and filling up my hard drive and EHD with oodles and oodles of supplies. The sad thing about that habit, is that there are a lot of amazing kits that I have not gotten to use because they are still in their zipped state! Haha.Β

I am still slowly recovering from the download and stash bug and moving on to the actual unzipping and utilizing part of the addiction – that’s the good news πŸ™‚

I realized earlier on that I lack the vision that great designers have so I will probably never create kits or elements to give back to the community. I am not sure that I will make a very good part of a Creative Team because I don’t scrap layouts regularly. So I am quite happy being a fan and a sometimes paying consumer πŸ™‚

But every once in a while, I make a layout that I am super happy about, and that looks to me like others may like it too. A layout that can be used for different purposes.

The print size for this QP is very small though – about 3 inches by 2.5 inches. That’s because of the size of my mini album. It’s display size is quite large though so it is best for web layouts but just test it out for your own printing if you’d like.

Anyway, I hope you like it and don’t forget to leave me a comment if you download!

The credits for everything I used on this QP are found here, and I have also obtained permission from the designers to give this QP away. I have not, however, received any response from ButterflyHollowDesigns and AlexaB. If any of you know them, please let them know about this. If they object to my giving it away, I will gladly take it down.Β

I am truly hoping that this won’t be my first and last freebie offering on this blog. But that all depends on inspiration. πŸ™‚

It’s been a good week so far. I have met my new boss and she seems real nice and those that I’ve asked have nothing but good to speak of her. I am looking forward to working with her. It’s still training for me, and I really have to get used to my new product – I know that will be my biggest challenge. It’s quite easy, but since I don’t use it, it is a little strange to me. I’d love to go into details, but can’t.

Oh, I also added my Bravenet guestbook and figured out how to embed it properly within this blog. Yay me! Check it out through the Guestbook link up top.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by πŸ™‚
