Remember my LiveScribe post? So I’ve still been thinking about getting it. But now, the Bamboo Stylus for iPad has been thrown into the mix. As in maybe I should just get the stylus instead of the smart pen.
Getting a stylus means I’ll be using the iPad more often. It also means I wouldn’t have to buy the special notebooks for LiveScribe, nor will I need to refill ink. So yes, you bet this product got me thinking again.
Apparently, Wacom wasn’t the first company to come out with this product. Before this, there were Pogo and Targus. These pens are more affordable too.
Does anyone know if this is already available in the Philippines?
I will have an early day at work tonight so I really should be getting some sleep (2 hours ago). But there’s these two sites I keep going back and forth to.
Yes, both have something to do with losing weight, although the first one is really about cleansing, and weight loss is just one of its effects. I am tempted to get both, but don’t know if I really want to pay for it!
But they complement each other don’t they? Hmm.. I’ve 30 hours to think about the Slimzone promo…
I received a much-awaited package today – my Project Life kit!
It’s such an amazing product, a simplified scrapooking system for those of us who don’t have as much time or creativity to build full scrapbook pages from scratch Learn more about Project Life from this video from its creator:
But I will blog about this more in more in the coming days and months, for now let me highlight how easy it was to have it shipped to the Philippines.
Easy Amazon Transaction
I ordered the kit via Amazon on the 28th of March. The cost meant that the package qualified for free shipping within the US. At the time, there was a free trial available for an Amazon program and I signed up for that. It allowed for my package to be delivered for free, within 3 days.
I loved how it was so easy to track the package from within the Amazon site, and how real-time the updates were.
My-Shopping Box
So from the store it shipped from (I’m guessing Becky’s homebase), my kit travelled to the US address assigned to me at My-ShoppingBox – a package forwarding service that consolidates your packages and sends them when and where you want them to.
Package arrived there on the 31st of March. I authorized the shipment, made the payment, and waited a full month (+ a few days) before I finally received it.
There is an easy way to track the package from My-Shopping Box as well. However, updates are not done as real-time as, say UPS. In fact, it’s only today that I actually saw the status change from Departed from US.
The service had some problems with their website last week – logins were not being accepted. I did get an answer from customer support about the issue, and they gladly gave me the status of the package upon giving them the tracking number. And guess what? They were pretty accurate. They said to expect the package on May 10 or 11, and it came today!
I love it. I don’t have time today to work on it, but I will make time this weekend. Excited!
Anyway, back to the shipping service… My-Shopping Box collects an annual membership fee. I forgot how much, but I got in for free because I’m a BDO credit card holder. There’s also supposed to be a rebate for shipping when you use your BDO/AMEX cards but I haven’t checked yet if I got any. There’s a good number of questions in their FAQ page that should help anyone decide if they’re going to sign up for the service.
You pay them per package you have shipped. To save money, you can consolidate several smaller items you purchase from different sites (or were given to you as gifts) into one package. If not all items arrive at the same time, you may have to pay a minimal storage fee if your package has been in the facility for more than 15 days. This shouldn’t be a problem as long as you plan your purchases.
Though they weigh your package and charge accordingly, it’s still cheaper to ship via this service than if I shipped directly from the seller to my home. The time it took to get the package delivered would probably be just the same – 4-6 weeks.
The convenience is that they deliver it to your door and no more unexpected exorbitant Customs fees.
Have you tried My Shopping Box or any similar service? How was your experience?
We went to Megamall on Saturday morning, and what’s a trip to Mega without a visit to Forever 21?
Here’s a piece I got from that visit:
I wore it to work for the first time last night – one of the rare times I’ve let my Kikay self shine through. Okay, so wearing a pair of earrings isn’t exactly kikay for most people, but like I mentioned in the linked post, it’s the only accessory I really like wearing.
The boyfriend isn’t too keen on dangling earrings and insists that round ones would look better on me. I’m like, what?! Round ones make your face look rounder, I don’t need that. I think these kinds help give an illusion that elongates my already round face. What do you think?
I actually bought two more pairs of earrings on Saturday, plus a leather skirt (on sale) and a smaller bag. I love them all but haven’t used them yet. Talk about splurging!
Heard that the 3-day sale for the Megamall is going to be this weekend. Just like I skipped the one at SM Cubao (it’s right across the office, hello?!), I’m skipping this one too. These days, I do not have the patience or the energy for the deluge of people who troop by the busload to these sales. I wish I did though, I’m one who appreciates a good bargain.
Okay, the real reason I’m skipping out is – I don’t want to go broke!
The week started on a high note. I hope that’s sustained. Work hasn’t always been the happiest place to be in, but it’s easier when things go as planned. I just wish I had enough time to work on my own system to address everything I need to pay attention to at work. You know, a system for fire prevention. As it is, we’re all just fighting fire all the time. Hmm..
A few weeks ago, while checking out accessories for the Wii and scouting for speakers, we ended up buying a new printer – an Epson Stylus T13.
The Canon Pixma printer that came free with the Kodak point and shoot we bought two-three years ago had already broken down, and though I personally don’t print out a lot of stuff from home, I figured it was okay to get a new one.
We got the converted printer for PhP 3700. Yes, it’s been converted to use a continues ink system that will help me save from ink costs. The sales tech also gave us tips on how to care for the printer and perform basic troubleshooting.
Being converted and all, our new printer has this attachment on the side:
That’s where the ink goes and where you’ll squeeze in the refill when needed. Each bottle of refill costs 80 pesos so if all colors go out I’ll only have to spend 320 pesos for a complete refill. How much is it per cartridge? For sure, one cartridge costs more than twice as all four refill bottles combined.
The print looks fab too. I’ve printed a photo of our little boy and it’s now been framed and sits atop their dining table at San Benissa. I look forward to printing a lot more photos, specially for Project Life when I get my kit.
The only problem is that the printer is currently not working. I get an error that I’ve ran out of ink. I’ve done the troubleshooting that the sales tech advised but it hasn’t worked so far. We have 6 months warranty and I know this can be easily fixed (or replaced). So tomorrow we shall bring it back to the store.
I forgot the name of the store we got it from, but it’s at the lower ground level of SM Cubao where all the gadget shops are. Apart from Epson, they also carry Canon and Brother printers.
