Hanna (top right) bagged the prize for scariest makeup, but everyone was a winner.
AJ kept us all laughing the entire evening.
Next year’s party is going to be a lot tougher. Though the two older girls Shanti and Butchik were partying with us, they are not even in this photo because they didn’t want to dress up anymore. Jomar was out with his dad. The neighbors aren’t around because they also attended the same birthday party that Jomar went to. The kids are growing up. We don’t know if they’d still want to do this next year, or if there’s going to be enough of them interested. We’ll see.
Checkout our 2005 photos (I can’t seem to find photos of the first year we did this, or was 2005 the first?):
As I was trying to find an inspiration for a post, I decided to pay the TDD blog a visit and I wasn’t disappointed.
There was a post there by Katie, the Scrapbook Lady, sharing how she does her roundups. I am already envisioning how I can do this every month. It will give me a topic for a blog post, but also a way to save info for future layouts (if I ever really get back to digiscrapbooking!).
An October roundup would be my test run. I don’t think I’ll be posting much photos though, but we’ll see. I’ll do the actual roundup tomorrow, after the Halloween Party here at home. I just wanted to share it right now for those who might want to join in 🙂

I’d also been trying the USANA Essentials Health Supplements and so far I don’t see or feel any tangible difference yet. I have heard some positive reviews from friends though. They have supplements for liver health too, and I bought a bottle for my brother because I think that’s something that would benefit him. I wonder if they have information too about colon cleanse reviews? I mean, I know that colon health is also important because that’s an organ that’s quite sensitive and difficult to fix if it gets damaged, if you know what I mean…
Reminds me of Amelie, in the way the story was told.
By the time we went to see it, I was already sooooo sleepy. Having gone straight from my 1AM shift to Makati on some business right after lunch time, and then finally to meet Vanette around 630PM at The Gateway my energy was really tapering down. But as soon as the movie started, sleeping was out of the question.
The soundtrack is awesome too! And you can listen to it over here.
It’s true though, it is NOT a love story, but it’s a story about love.
And I wouldn’t mind watching it over and over and over again.
Angel Locsin is one of the prettiest faces in Philippine TV and cinema. She also has one of the brightest stars – and now I believe that it’s not solely because of her acting ability, but more so for her heart.
Having started her showbiz career with GMA7, I was not a fan of hers – not even when she played Darna. I saw her on the Mano Po movies but still didn’t think much of her. It was on her transfer to ABS, and then her teleserye with Papa Piolo, that got my attention. I followed Lobo, and until now I am bugging the boyfriend to finally complete the DVD collection for me so I can watch all over again. I didn’t watch Only You as closely as I did Lobo, but it was nice to see her there too.
Today, I saw her interview with Boy Abunda on The Buzz. She was asked how the recent calamities have affected her, how it maybe changed her life. She had started an auction site with other celebrities where all proceeds will be directed to efforts to assist survivors of the typhoons that hit us recently. Her answer to the question? She almost switched careers. She genuinely wants to help our country be a better place to live in. She wants to dedicate more time to her advocacies. But she has to work. She has to earn, so she can continue to share. She really seems to be one of the most down-to-earth personalities we have.
This humbled me as I have been humbled so many times this past month.
I had that chance. I was in a world where service was what you were expected to do. I used to say that my life then was already dedicated to charity. There was no need for me to volunteer elsewhere or donate to a different cause because what I had to do for a living, was also for a greater cause. But I left that world thinking that when I earn so much, I will be able to help more. Guess what? I don’t. At least I don’t feel like I do enough.
There is so much more that I can do. So many more ways that I can be more involved.
It’s time I wake up from this long deep sleep and start living again. For myself, and for others.
So what will I do? No grand gestures, no big projects. I’ll take it one small act at a time. My readers will eventually know about it, or not.

On an entirely different topic (as in super unrelated)… I think our refrigerator needs a new filter or something. Only I don’t know to tell if it is so? Or if it would need a 4396841 or something else. Wait… nah. Our ref’s not a Whirlpool, it’s our new washing machine that comes from that company. Do all refs have filters? How can you tell if it needs replacement? I don’t think ours has ever been replaced…
It is only today that I have heard about a controversy surrounding the delayed delivery of service by the Department of Social Welfare and Development. A blogger posted about relief goods in DSWD’s warehouses that were not being distributed to victims of the typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. It’s been one month since Ondoy hit, and we still have people in relief centers. There’s another storm raging through some parts of Luzon. Isn’t there an immediate need for those goods?
The blogosphere is abuzz with this heinous crime, and the local media has picked it up as well.
I will not repost the author’s original blog post, but instead I will give you links to the two recent articles she wrote that have the world’s attention now:
If the DSWD needed volunteers, they should have asked for them. If no one heeded their call, they should have looked for alternatives. It is their duty.
EDIT:
I just logged on to my Twitter feed and found Tweets about Rock Ed Philippines organizing volunteers to finally do something about the stockpile of goods awaiting repacking and distribution. More info can be found here:
Still, isn’t it infuriating that private citizens and civic organizations are the ones reaching out to DSWD to do something about these goods rather than the other way around? If you can go and volunteer, please do.
