Inspiration – Ads

Boden ads are delivered to my Inbox every once in awhile. I signed up as an affiliate to the shopping site awhile back, but since I never got any conversions, I stopped posting their ads and link on my blogs. But I didn’t opt out from the emails, I liked looking at them and all the clothes they sell.

Today, I received another ad which in itself is already a source of page design inspiration:

Too bad I couldn’t capture the full page. It’s not one whole image but an actual page put together in HTML so right-click save would only save it in parts. I used the Snipping tool to take two screenshots just to capture everything.

I love the pattern on the coat – I wish I was bold enough to wear such a pattern and that it was actually cold enough here to wear the chic jacket. And I love how they used the same pattern on the ad border. The full page is something that can be lifted for a digiscrapbook page. Maybe my first layout will be inspired by this page. And maybe my first page this year will be about our upcoming Cebu vacation 🙂 (We’re still finalizing our trip details and waiting on a possible deal for the hotel we picked. It’s sad that there’s no one ultimate resource for Cebu vacation deals like this one for Branson Missouri vacation packages, it would have made planning this trip all that easier.)

I Am Thankful

I may not have the best job in the world (and I say this only because it’s WORK, and not because I don’t really like it), and I certainly don’t have everything I want. But this one’s for sure: I have much to be thankful for.

I have always said that I had a wonderful childhood. I grew up with a loving family around me – a big one at that. There may only be mom, dad, and my big brother in this small unit, but there was never a lack of aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins as I was growing up. I also had lots of opportunities to be a kid and to discover who I was going to be. For that, I will always be grateful to my parents. And I will always thank God for choosing them for me 🙂

I will have to admit, I don’t always look forward to going to work. Everyday I wake up and know I have to go, so I do. But when I get there already and I start working – I do it without grudging. After all, no one is forcing me to be there. And truth be told, I love what I do. I love that the work challenges me until I sometimes become frustrated. The stress that comes with the job? I welcome it too. Yes, I would still choose to stay home and bake and blog all day if it can pay for all my bills, but that doesn’t mean I hate what I do now. I don’t. Whenever I pray, I say thanks for the job that I have, and the opportunity to work with a lot of people on a daily basis.

I am not at my healthiest – I think I was there maybe six or so months ago – but cheers to health and well-being!  Tons of self-discipline and one big lifestyle change is what I need. Thank you in advance for the healthy mind and body that I know I will someday achieve. Someday soon I hope. 🙂

Thank you for another year to do all that we didn’t do in years before. Isn’t it great that we are given the chance to live our lives a day at a time, and a new year offers so many possibilities. This year, we hope to do more, and be more. And let me say that I am thankful to have the boyfriend to continue with this journey. 🙂

There’s so much more I should be thankful for and it will bore you to pieces to read all about it. So let me just sum up by saying THANK YOU for being in my life. You may be a passing stranger who happened to read my blog or a very dear personal friend who just likes stalking my blogs, all the same, your visits are appreciated and your comments are most welcome ;).

Going on a Trip

Our Cebu vacation is a week away but we haven’t booked our hotels yet. We’re hoping we could get discounts for Be Hotel and stay there for all three nights we’re going to be in the city. Then we’ll just arrange a city tour, the Sky rides, and island hopping.

If that doesn’t work out, we’ll try to arrange for a trip to Bantayan Island. We’ might stay there for two nights if we decide to go. I would love to revisit Badian but it would have to be a choice between the two sites, we can’t go to both places. I was there almost 14 years ago with ECPAT friends. The last time I visited Cebu City was around 12 years ago I think. Both visits were quite an experience. This time would be very different because it’s supposed to be all leisure. 🙂

I do wish there was a reliable vacation rentals directory for Cebu. It would make planning this trip easier. There are actually a few sites out there, but I don’t believe they offer the best rates. Plus, there’s no way to really see what you’re opting for. Oh well. There’s very few people in Cebu whom I personally know that I can ask to host us – not to house us really, just to help us get around. But I’m a bit shy to ask them. 🙂

Do you have suggestions for Cebu?

All this planning for a four-day getaway excites me, I wonder if I’ll ever be able to say that I was browsing for vacation rentals Paris? It is still my dream destination – Paris and all of Europe!

Someday 🙂

Charity Collabs for Flood Relief

Wow, my second digital scrapbooking post in a row. It’s been awhile since I last had back to back posts about kits or anything digiscrapbooking related, but this news couldn’t wait. I’ve always been amazed about how such an amazing community the digiscrapping world makes. Many times, I have seen designers come together to give their time and talent to worthwhile causes. It happened for Haiti relief last year, and for some other families who needed help with medical bills or seed fund to bounce back after a devastating fire, for example.

And digiscrappers rally to help by buying these charity kits where proceeds are almost entirely given to the intended beneficiaries. Isn’t that wonderful?

Here’s another one of those, benefiting those affected by the floods in Queensland, Australia.

Click on the preview to go to ScrapbookBytes to purchase this kit. Even if you’re not interested in donating funds, you’re sure to get value for every dollar paid because of all the goodies that fill this kit. So if you think about it, you’re satisfying your shopping urge for kits while you help others. Ten dollars can go a long way when put together with other tens. 🙂

From Sweet Shoppe Designs, they have this limited edition collab kit to raise funds for one of their designers who was also devastated by the floods. You can read about Zoe Pearn’s story of the flood here. Brighter Days Ahead is a kit filled with hope that they may pick up the pieces and restart their lives after the flood. It is available for a limited time so go grab it now:

this is just the preview for the papers and there’s so much more to this kit. Check it out by clicking the preview.

Now I wish I had enough funds to buy both charity collabs, as well as the Scrap Matters products I put on my cart this morning. But I’m quite apprehensive about digiscrap shopping too much because they might end up gathering virtual dust while they go unused, much like my jewelry making supplies that are just kept in a box in the garage.. Well I hope not, whether paid kits or freebie downloads, I will use my stash to create beautiful pages this year. 🙂
