Rest Day(s)

Normally, working men get two days off each week. I do too, but they’re not two consecutive days. For the past two weeks, my rest days fall on Thursdays and Sundays. I don’t mind really, it can work for your advantage and you get more rest than usual with there being a break instead of five straight days of work. But doing it two weeks in a row is taking its toll.

I felt Sunday come and go, in fact I even attended a children’s party, but it hardly felt like a rest day. You know what I mean? I feel like I’d just been at work yesterday, and tonight I’d have to be back. Hopefully, I get two straight days off this week already.

But enough complaining. It invites bad vibes. ๐Ÿ™‚

Christmas is literally just around the bend and we still have much shopping ahead of us. Admittedly, the boyfriend and I have been so busy spending for ourselves that we haven’t really bought much for the people (kids specifically) that we want to share our blessings with. Good thing we still have this weekend coming up.

Oh wait, what weekend? Clearly my rhythm’s messed up. It is just the start of a new week and already I’m thinking about weekends and normal people rest days. ๐Ÿ™

I haven’t even figured out my end of year giveaway for blog readers/visitors, nor have I decided about the future of my hosting services. Too bad I missed the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales for shared/reseller/dedicated hosting services. I’d probably have been able to save up on those rather than the huge sum I’d have to pay for renewal of my 2-year services with Dreamhost. Honestly though, I don’t need to move or look for another hosting company. I’ve had a good two years with Dreamhost with my site going down maybe once or twice and only at very brief intervals.ย ย But it is not cheap. Then again, you mostly get the services you pay for, so I’m not complaining.

Give me leave now, as I enjoy the last few hours of my non-weekend…

Staple-free Stapler

Have you ever heard of such a thing? Sorry, but this is the first time I’d ever heard of it. I was going through Oprah.Com again (still couldn’t get over her favorite things for 2010) and this was among their suggestions for stocking stuffers  –

The site didn’t offer much of a description as to how this actually works, but a quick search with Bing led me to this. It’s really interesting to use the papers to hold themselves together. The downside is having that U hole, but as long as it doesn’t hit any of your letters that ain’t so bad really.

Is this available on this side of the world? I want one!

This one from Amazon looks PINK to me, but it says its purple. Whatev, I still want it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Write. Eat. Yum.

The way I sit around here blogging, you’d think we had no plans of going out this afternoon, much more that I had not work at midnight tonight. But blog I must while there’s inspiration. Blogging is sometimes like eating. You need to have an appetite for it in order for you to really enjoy it. There are so many topics to write about but don’t we suffer from writer’s block so many times in the course of a week? It’s like that with food too. Even while surrounded with a lot of good food, if you simply have no desire for it you will not be tempted.

So I eat when I feel like eating. And I write when I have the urge to write.

I only wish that I had more writing inspirations than I have food inspirations. Sometimes when I feel so good eating, I’d like to believe that the advertised Bangkok and Ballerina pills don’t have the alleged side effects of diet pills that scare me. Wouldn’t losing weight be so much easier then? Oh well.

Kotex Luxe

I don’t mean to gross anyone out, but I guarantee that this post has been sanitized, and completely hygienic. If you’d rather not read about sanitary napkins though, feel free to move on to my next post. Oprah’s Favorite Things might just be a more interesting post for you ๐Ÿ™‚

Yesterday at Between the Covers, I mentioned a trip to the grocery and the mall on Sunday morning. What I didn’t share there was this other luxe item I bought.

The bag doesn’t look like packaging for a sanitary napkin does it? But it is. ย Kotex was my brand of choice years ago, specifically their Kotex White. It’s comparable to Modess I guess, only better. But they stopped production, or I just don’t see it in groceries anymore. I do remember asking my brother one time to get two pack of that brand for me, from Glo-ri Supermarket at Tandang Sora. He picked me up from work (then at Luzon Avenue) after I’d bled through my pants. Yuck. (Anyone grossed out yet?)

So anyway…. I’d seen the Luxe line awhile bag, but this is new packaging, and I must admit that it looks really nice.

The back view shows the pad designs in a bigger scale. My first reaction upon learning that the pads had designs: what would you need designer pads for? The answer – you don’t need them. These pads are not what you’d call necessities. They belong in the category of things that are “nice to have.” Not to mention, these cost more than your average pad.

But the individual wrap is violet! Nice ๐Ÿ™‚

And the pads are really Ultrathin, much like the Modess Ultrathins designed for heavy flow. These aren’t extra long though, just regular sized.

I’d expected the print to be more colorful, but they’re quite light really. Not sure if they’re like diapers that will look different when ‘wet.’

I used this product today and it’s quite comfortably and you almost forget you had one on. I’m at the tail end of my period so I wouldn’t know how it would stand my regular to heavy flow days, but it looks promising really. Still, I think I’d stick with Modess for my regular pads, specially with the Sulit pack that allows for some savings. But like I said, it wouldn’t hurt to use these from time to time, specially when you need to tote them in a bag when you go out.

Frienditute

I feel silly having to mention it over and over, but I will anyway. Over at Between the Covers I’d already mentioned how hectic things have been to find time to read, but you see it’s not just my books I’ve been neglecting. My mailbox is overflowing with mail too.

So I’m reading back on all the mail I’ve received and just got to read the December 1st strip of the Daily Dilbert:

Hilarious! They say Facebook is the new TV. As in, if you used to ask in shock when a friend tells you they have no TV at home, now you’re sure to be shocked to if a friend isn’t on Facebook. But it would be so sad to be in on FB, but not have friends around. Oh well. ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s 430 PM on a Monday, and I have shift again at midnight. Perhaps I should go to bed now? How could I when I only got up at half past eleven this morning? Haha. Indeed, I’d slept my entire rest day off, in an effort to defy the makers of the best eye cream for dark circles. I don’t need your product to get rid of these dark circles, ample sleep should be enough! But then again, didn’t my doctor tell me I wouldn’t ever get rid of these? Ugh.
