Oprah’s Ultimate Favorite Things 2010

Who hasn’t been envious of Oprah’s audience on her annual reveal of her Favorite Things? I know I’ve been jealous of the luxurious freebies since the first time I saw one such episode on TV. This year’s list is even more amazing, what with it being the last season of The Oprah Show, that’s not a big surprise. You can head on over to Oprah.Com to check out the full list, but here are the ones I’d specifically LOVE to have from there:

Hope in a Jar - Oprah.com

I’ve heard of this product before, in fact I’ve read a lot of positive reviews for Hope in a Jar by Philosophy. And I keep checking back at the Beauty Bar if they have it marked down so I can finally get me a jar. It is a little too pricey for the average person, but I heard it said that it is all worth it. Maybe I’ll have my first jar next year. I am happy with the moisturizer I currently use (Myra E), but we all deserve a little pampering every once in a while and it wouldn’t hurt that it will make us look more presentable. If I do get a jar, I probably won’t use it daily anyway. 🙂

Le Creuset - Oprah.com

Oh this would be wonderful to have! The Pioneer Woman has had several giveaways featuring this brand of cookware. Now if only I actually cooked.

Miraclebody Jeans - Oprah.Com

They say these jeans will instantly make you 10lbs lighter, I want one! I want the skinny version, specially since my one and only skinny-looking pair has given up on him. The zip’s broken and I haven’t had time to take it in for repair.

Jessica Leigh Diamond Earrings - Oprah.Com

I don’t own any diamonds and this would be a wonderful first pair, if ever I do get to own one. Very elegant, classy, and doesn’t scream – KIDNAP ME I’M WEARING DIAMONDS! 🙂

VW 2010 Beetle - Oprah.Com

We were once Beetle owners and so, this VW model will always have a soft spot in our hearts. But if the old Beetle was the people’s car, these modern ones have become too expensive for us common folks. The silhouette for the 2012 Beetle looks exciting, and looks more like the original version. The audience members are so lucky to be getting one for free!

Baker's Edge Baking Pan - Oprah.Com

No more worrying about getting the perfect edge for each individual brownie!

Netflix - Oprah.Com

How I wish this was available here. Is Apple TV available in the Philippines? If we had this, maybe it’ll keep us Pinoys off torrent sites that don’t respect Intellectual Property Rights.

Royal Carribean Allure of the Seas - Oprah.Com

I’ve never been on a cruise and would love to be on one. I wonder if the boyfriend would entertain an Asian cruise for honeymoon?

Sony Bravia 3d - Oprah.Com

As Oprah put it, it’s definitely a Wow-er.

Tory Burch Tote and Flats - Oprah.Com

Tory Burch flats, I’ve heard, are ultra comfortable. A pair of these would send me to heaven, and the tote would be a nice bonus.

It’s also wonderful that Oprah encouraged those who received her gifts this year, to also give. The DonorsChoose Gift Card from Bing.Com and the Kiva cards are precious!

Oh well, at least I do have two things from that list: the iPad, and the Scrabble app for iPad. Haha! 🙂

Nowhere Near Here

Here’s something to take away the stress from a long day at work:

Nowhere Near Here from Pahnl on Vimeo.

If life is a catwalk, run like a dog.

‘Nowhere Near Here’ is a stop motion animation that uses a combination of light with stencils and long exposure photography to tell the story of a dog running around the city at night, doing whatever a dog does. The animation was first exhibited at the The Herbert, in Coventry, on the 7th October 2010.

With well over 300 hours in the making, more than 200 stencils involved and too many cold nights spent outside on my knees getting the shots, I am very happy (and relieved) to finally share this with you. Through the course of shooting ‘Nowhere Near Here’, I have dealt with curious drunks, a dog almost peeing on the camera (the irony is not lost on me, haha), the endlessly suspicious police and even someone nearly running off with a tripod.

This is street art, this is life and thank you for watching.

…for those of you that may be interested in prints, a selection of film stills from ‘Nowhere Near Here’ are currently available at http://www.pahnl.co.uk/store.php

Amazing piece of work isn’t it? Every time I feel tired or stressed, I always seem to find something that helps eases that. A beautiful photo, or a feel-good movie, or a bearhug and a kiss from my nephews. Or a wonderful work of art, a burst of creativity like this video.

I think that moments of beauty, ample sleep, lots of water and careful eating are better cures for stress-related problems, plus these are also components of the formula for the best acne treatment. 🙂

So surround yourself with pretty things and beautiful people. Haha 🙂

Welcome December!

Welcome December! It’s the last month of the year, and we’re closing this first decade in the new millennium. Whew.

This has been a very busy week. It’s my fourth and longest week at work yet. I’ve got one more shift to go before I close out this hell week, but I have yet to feel good about the work I’ve done. This is not me starting to complain, but I certainly have learned a couple of lessons from this week’s experience. Like never to take for granted any bit of ‘downtime’ you can get. I’d been secretly feeling guilty about not being busy enough last week, until Monday happened. I’d never been on my toes so much at work than I have this week. Haha! The other OMs were right, I should have just enjoyed the moment while it lasted. 😀

But enough about work for now. 🙂

Since the month of November, it’s time to get a final roundup on the number of comments I left on other blogs:

Hmm. 142 comments. Better than September and October, but sill only 14% to goal, and 36% of August’s output. Still, it’s been fun leaving my footprints all across the blogosphere. I’ll continue challenging myself to comment more but I am thinking of discontinuing the ticker on the sidebar. I’ve got a suspicion that the widget is what brought the Hyperpromote ads that pop up sometimes when you’re visiting my blog. It’s the only change I’ve made on the blog since those ads started showing up. I will need a means to track my comments though, and I have yet to find an alternative to Ticker Factory. If you have any suggestions, hit me up on the comments box will you? Super thanks in advance! 😉

I’d also like to say THANK YOU to Moonangelnay for being one of my Top Entrecard Droppers for November!

I know I normally acknowledge the top ten droppers here, but it won’t hurt to change it up a bit this month would it? 🙂

A grand SHOUT OUT too to Zoan for being my top commenter for the second straight month! 🙂

Check out her blogs and you might just find a new friend 🙂

The Ultimate Brush

Seen this commercial?

Today was the first time I’d even heard of it. We went shopping at The Duty Free Shop today (Mom just came back from London yesterday), and this was one of the goodies we brought home. We got two, one each for me and Mom. I didn’t know it was a Paris Hilton product. I just liked its shape and its color and it was in a goodie bag with two more items in it and priced reasonably, it’s like the brush was a freebie.

I tried using it already and its nice to use. It’s supposedly volumizing, and helps dry wet hair faster because of it’s shape.

Anyhoo. This must have been our biggest shopping foray at The Duty Free shop ever. We bought so much, a lot of the items were mine, which means a huge bill next month. Haha. I’ll share with the other items we bought next time. There were no peacock alley linens in our grocery cart though, no pillows (though they were marked down too), not even a set of beddings. But there is, of course, goodies I can use for baking 🙂

Gift List for Christmas 2010

I am not talking about my own Christmas WishList this time around 🙂 This time I’m trying to sound off on who I want to give gifts to this year, and what.

Of course topping my list is our soon-to-arrive baby boy. I still haven’t decided what to get my tiny little nephew as we welcome him to this world, but thank you so much for all your suggestions. Clothes seem to be the most popular suggestion, probably the easiest too. Somehow though, my heart wants something else, I just don’t know what that is yet. Sorry, I’m weird that way. So a gift for the baby would be my gift for his parents too, haha! Or not. I should get something for Kuya and Diane’s new home even if I don’t really want them to move out after the baby comes.

Next of course, is my Mom and Dad. Dad has mentioned that he wanted another chip for his videoke microphone, the Magic Sing. The thing is, I already got him a chip last year and I don’t feel like giving the same thing again (although a different chip, I’m sure). Ma would like something else, for sure. If I was so rich that I could give iPads as gifts, I’d get her one. Maybe an iTunes gift card instead so she can select her own apps and games to enjoy on my iPad. Simple, but something she will definitely enjoy.

For the boyfriend, I mentioned his wishlist on my wishlist post awhile back. By the way, he bought us trainers this morning! We were at our former office and there was an Adidas sale. We got our new shoes for 50%. Yay! So he’s scratched one item from my list, but since it was at half price, he’ll still get me two more items. It will probably both be cameras! Haha. 🙂 I didn’t get the chance to take a photo of our shoes (which actually match!) because he took them up to the room as soon as we got home, but they’ll have their day on the spotlight soon. But I still don’t know what I’ll get him. Probably another pair of shoes from Vans, and something for his photography. Maybe an upgrade to flickr pro. Or a whole new redesign of Badodong.Com as a gallery rather than a blog.

For my Grandpa, what shall I get? A new pair of shoes maybe? It is difficult to get him footwear, I tell you. Haha. I think he still doesn’t want to receive any more shirts/polo shirts because that’s what everyone gives him, hehe. I don’t think he’d like to receive a walking stick though he probably needs it. So what can we get him?

Sigh. I’ve only listed a few people at this point and already I’m exhausted! I haven’t even started shopping yet! Waaaaahhhhh 🙂
